We are roughly in 1870. A fourteen-year Arkansas (Steinfeld) loses his father, killed by a criminal (Brolin). Determined to bring it before the Court to judge it, the girl hires a bounty hunter, the former sheriff drunk Rooster Cogburn (Bridges), known as "grim" because of the rough ways and the ease with which you use the trigger . The man, along with a ranger (Damon) sets off to hunt for the thug with the tenacious little girl in tow.
remake of 1969 film directed by Henry Hathaway and starring John Wayne, The determination adds nothing to the filmography of the Coen brothers, confirming the contrary, a moment of creative fatigue and less focus on the finished product. Never before on this occasion, taken a few long range, the visual talent of the two brothers remains just mentioned, many times the choices seem hurried and botched (just look at how the main character leaves the water completely dry after fording the river, or lips of that once grown up and cut in half to see with what accuracy the two have refused to dismiss the film) and the story does not keep pace or suspense either, presenting itself as a tired and dull movie raod riding from the maddeningly verbiage.
