Lebanon, 1982. The soldier Shmulik (Donat) would not want to shoot, it was exercised only on the big cans, but now is forced to shoot from the dirty tank he shares with three buddies and watch the horrors of war only from the periscope.
antiwar parable that reconstructs the Middle East conflict between Israel, Syria and Lebanon, built slowly through the prism of the existential drama of a man forced into war. To tell it, the first-time director Shmulik Maoz 47, opts for a radical choice: to not show the outside world except by the pointer of the means of war. Chapeau style for a lot of courage. Too bad that Shmulik neglect everything else, from acting, to say the least amateur level, dialogues, impregnated with a carrier that is designed so pathetic as the handkerchief effect "we hard men", to the visibility of the artificial, too blatant to be credible.
